Red Wood Viscometer No 1 and No 2 |

Red wood viscometer apparatus is widely used in Petroleum laboratories, Industries, Oil Refineries Educational, Institutions for study of the RED WOOD VISCOSITY of petroleum Products. Two types of viscometer are available; No. I for liquid having redwood flow from 20 seconds up to 2000 seconds and No. II for liquids having flow time more than 200 seconds. The complete outfit comprises of stainless steel bath having drain plug with electrical heating arrangements (or gas heating arrangements), with tap, silver plated oil cup, precision stainless steel jet, ball valve, cover thermometer clip, stirrer and suitable stand with leveling screws. In electrically heated model the temperature is controlled by a energy regulator / solid state regulator. The Instrument is suitable to work on 220 V AC, 50Hz.

It is used for finding out Saybolt viscosity of fuel oils and lubrication oils by Universal Jet and FUROL Jet methods. The apparatus consists of Brass Chromium Plated cup centrally placed in a water Bath. The bath has a lid which contains a water cooling tube, two handles with two stirrer blades, thermometer socket and a heater. The stirring of liquid is done by hand with turn table arrangement. Temperature is controlled by an energy regulator. The Instrument is suitable to work on 220 V AC, 50Hz.

The apparatus consists of a brass test cup with handle removable cup cover with spring operated rotating shutter having pilot jet, stirrer with flexible shaft. The complete assembly rests in an air bath which is covered with dome shaped metal top. The cup is fitted with insulated handle and locking arrangement near cup flange. For determination of (close cup) Flash Point of petroleum products & mixtures above 19° C and below 70°C. The apparatus consists of Brass/ Gun metal machined Cup Cover fitted with shutter mechanism, test flame arrangement (oil test jet / gas test jet), stirrer & thermometer Socket. The assembly rests in double Jacketed Copper/SS water bath. A funnel, an overflow pipe and split thermometer socket are fitted on top of the heating bath. The outer jacket of Bath is fitted with a stand. An electric heater with energy control is provided at the bottom with flexible cord.

Penetration is a measure of consistency to determine the plasticity of substances. It is measured by the distance a standard cone or needle will penetrate the surface by a free fall of a standard temperature. A rack & pinion & pointer assembly provides fine adjustment of cone or needle tip to sample & incorporates a slipping clutch mechanism which makes reading of Penetration & subsequent resetting a simple & accurate operation. The dial is graduated from 0-400 in one tenth millimeter subdivision. The Instrument is supplied with weights & sample containers. |

This viscometer bath is used to maintain the correct constant temperature for estimating kinematic viscosity of oils and petroleum products. The tank is made out of high grade SS. This tank is fitted with toughned Glasses in the front & rear sides to give a clear view of specimens kept inside. Temperature is controlled by precision contact thermometer or Digital electronic temperature controller from 5°C above room temp. up to 99°C with an accuracy of ± 0.1°C. Used to determine the vapour pressure of volatile non-viscous Petroleum products except liquefied petroleum gases. The Vapour pressure bomb is made up of brass heavily Chromium plated and consists of an air chamber and a gasoline chamber of definite dimensions and volume ratio. A pressure gauge of required range is fitted above the air chamber. The joints are made leak proof by neoprene washers. The water bath used is of such dimensions that the vapour pressure bombs may be immersed to at least 1 inch above the air chamber and maintained at a constant temperature range upto 100°C ±2°C.
